Jeboult (1873) writes: "The font is apparently very old." Not mentioned in Pevsner (1958). The entry for this parish in the Victoria County History (Somerset, vol. 5, 1985) notes: "There was a chaplain at Huish Champflower by 1187, [...] and a church is mentioned in 1226"; there is no mention of a font or stoup in the VCH entry. The entry for this church in Images of England [IoE Number: 429522] reports: "Circular Norman font with ribbed C17 pointed cover". The entry for this church in the CRSBI (2018) notes: "The only Romanesque feature is the font [...] The font stands at the W end of the N aisle, with plenty of space around it today. It consists of a tub-shaped bowl with a heavy roll at the bottom, on a chamfered drum base which stands on a small and battered square plinth. The tapered bowl is without decoration but its simplicity is quite handsome, the reasonably fine-grained stone being a beautiful grey-yellow. (Unfortunately, its appearance is rather spoilt by an undulating stripe of mortar running round the whole circumference about ¼ way down from the top.) The lead lining comes up and part way across the rim. There is evidence of a former lock-fitting. The inner sides taper into a dished bottom [...] The font is not mentioned in Pevsner (1958), but in Orbach’s revision it is described as 12thc, and as ‘a narrow Ham stone tub tapered to a base roll moulding’."
