There is an entry for Brompton [Ralph] [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/ST0832/brompton-ralph/] [accessed 5 March 2018], but it mentions neither cleric nor church in it. Jeboult (1873) reports that the old church "was nearly rebuilt in A.D. 1738. The font is small." The font is described in Pevsner (1958): "Perp[endicular], octagonal, with flower and leaf motifs, a quatrefoil, and also a chalice and two flagons." The entry for this church in Historic Enghland [Listing NGR: ST0850432347] reports: "Octagonal font with carved panels of decoration on bowl and one panel begun at base of bowl, said to be C16; C17 flat ribbed cover." The entry for this parish in the Victoria County History (Somerset, vol. 5, 1985) notes: "The church at Brompton Ralph, a rectory, was established by 1291 [...] 16th-century font with a carving of the green man and a 17th-century cover".
