There are two entries for Barton [St David] [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/ST5431/barton-st-david/] [accessed 31 January 2018], neither of which mentions cleric or church in it. The entry for this church in the Images of England site [http://www.imagesofengland.org.uk/Details/Default.aspx?id=262807] [accessed 31 January 2018] reports: "C13 stone font on C19 base, a plain octagonal bowl with moulded underside and plain shaft to moulded plinth". Baptismal font consisting of an octagonal basin with plain vertical sides, graded moulding on the underbowl chamfer; raised on a plain octagonal stem and a moulded lower base, also octagonal. The wooden cover is octagonal and flat; appears modern. [NB: the font may have been re-tooled at some point]. Not mentioned in Pevsner (1958). The Victoria County History (Somerset, vol. 10, 2011) notes: "Barton church was dedicated to All Saints in 1279 [...] and to St David by 1791 [...] The nave may be 12th-century and has a north doorway with lozenge and chevron banding [...] the plain octagonal font, possibly dates from[the 15th century] although on a 19th-century base".
