The metal baptismal font font originally from this church [there is another that was brought in from Aegidiuskirche in the 1940s] consists of a decagonal basin decorated with very ornate openwork in the manner of an arcade that houses an apostle or saint in each; in one of them, easily identified by his pilgrim garb is James the Greater; the angles of the decagon, which constitute the columns of the arcade, are buttress-like, the length of the pillars with torsade pattern; the base has a thick moulding at the centre ring, and the section below splays into a decafoil shape in which the arrises are thin serpent bodies with crocketed backs.
**************NOTE: IMAGE AREA MAY CONTAIN MIXED IMAGES FROM BOTH FONTS; THE TWO FONTS ARE SIMILAR, WITH SIMILAR BASES AS WELL, BUT THE FONT FROM AEGIDUSKIRCHE HAS FIVE ADDIOTNAL LIONS ON THE BASE THAT THE OTHER ONE DOES NOT --
*****************BOTH DESCRIPTIONS BELOW REFER TO THE FONT FORMERLY FROM ST AEGIDIUSKIRCHE*****************************
Lübke (1870) notes a metal font, "a decagon, also with sculpture, resting on small lions".
The metal font now in the south side of the chancel here is originally from Aegidienkirche; the basin rests on five lions.
