Described and illustrated in Walker (1883) as a font "of second Pointed date" [i.e., Gothic, 13th-14th century]; Wlaker (ibid.) notes that the whole base is a restoration. Baptismal font consisting of an octagonal goblet-shaped basin with a pronounced moulded upper rim; below it is a band of quatrefoils inscribed in circles, two per side; lower down on the sides and underbowl are trefoil-headed arches or windows, also two per side; the basin has a prominent ring moulding at the point where it meets the stem; in Walker's illustration the sides of the octagonal stem have trefoil-headed arches or windows; the lower base is moulded, the lower sides of which appear concave. The font, as it is at present [2009] has had its stem and lower base removed, and stands on a very short base, just a few cms tall; we have no information on the where abouts of the original stem and lower base. The modern font cover, of metal, is a low dome with a ball finial.
