No individual entry found for this Woodcote in the Domesday survey. Sherwood & Pevsner (1974) note: "The so-called 'old font' outside the porch on a modern pillar is probably the bowl of a Norman piscina". The Church of England's www.achurchnearyou.com site notes "a stone pulpit and font both of which are decorated with illuminated text" in this church. Theres is an entry in Historic England [Listing NGR: SU6437582146] for a "Pillar piscina. Probably C12. Stone. Round bowl on pillar"; the entry for the church itself [Listing NGR: SU6437582155] notes: "Romanesque style font with round column base and square top with carved roundels to each side", but this font is not Romanesque but "A good example of the Romanesque Revival style." This entry mentions the church has "C12 foundations; rebuilt 1846".
