The Victoria County History (Northampton, vol. 4, 1937) notes: "The greater part of the present building is of 14thcentury date, but the lower part of the tower may belong to an earlier structure […] Extensive repairs and alterations in the 18th century have left their mark on the fabric […] In 1868–9 the whole of the 18th-century fittings were removed, the tower arch opened out […] The font is modern, with octagonal stone bowl, in the style of the 14th century […] It is of Mansfield stone, the gift of the architect, Robert Palgrave, in 1868. It replaced the 18th-century font now in the churchyard." [NB: we have no information on the original font of this church]
