Noted in the Victoria County History (Northampton, vol. 4, 1937): "The church of Holcot evidently belonged to the fee held by David I in the 12th century [...] The font is of 14th-century date with circular moulded bowl and modern shafted stem. The staples of the cover remain." Basin and base do not seem to be matched; not only are they different stones, in itsel not determining, but the basin is round and the base has multi-lobed contours that result from the cluster of columns. The wooden cover is a low octagonal pyramid with a metal Maltese cross; appears modern. Not mentioned in Pevsner & Cherry (1973)
