There is an entry for Edwardstone [variant spelling] in the Domesda survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/TL9442/edwardstone/] [accessed 17 August 2023]; it reports "1 church. 0.25 church lands" in it. Parker (1855) reports a plain octagonal font in this church. Listed in Historic England [Listing NGR: TL9402442071]: "A C14 and C15 flint and stone church with a tiled roof. The west tower is C15 [...] considerably
restored in 1880 [...] The font has a C17 cover". Described and illustrated in Knott (2007?): "A simple 13th century octagonal font on a 19th century colonade sits at the west end, domed by a Jacobean font cover." Only the plain octagonal basin now remains of the original font; it has chamfered upper and lower ends and is badly cracked; appears to have been re-tooled; it is now mounted on a new columnar base -central shaft and eight outer colonnettes, all round- an octagonal lower base and an octagonal plinth with kneeling stone. The octagonal wooden font cover is Jacobean, 17th-century, of the dome type.
