There are thirteen entries for Oxford [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/SP5106/oxford/] [accessed 9 November 2016], two of which mention a church in each. Neale (1825) notes a wooden font in this church at the time: "The font is simply of oak, lined with lead; it is of an octagonal form, with a conical top." A later wooden font here is noted in the Victoria County History (Oxford, vol. 4, 1979) as having replaced the medieval one at the time of the Civil War.
