There are three entries for Napton[-on-the-Hill] [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://domesdaymap.co.uk/place/SP4661/napton-on-the-hill/] [accessed 5 February 2015], one of which, in the lordship of Robert d'Oilly, and tenancy of the Count of Meulan in 1086, mentions a priest, but not a church in it, though there probably was one there. The Victoria County History (Warwick, vol. 6, 1951) notes: "There was a priest at Napton in 1086 [...] The church was built in the 12th century and probably consisted of chancel, north and south transepts, nave, and west tower. It was rebuilt in the 13th century, when the aisles were added, and at a later date, probably in the 17th century, a vestry and porch were built. The tower has been completely rebuilt within recent times, re-using some of the 12thcentury materials, and a clearstory has been inserted. [...] The font, placed in the centre of the nave opposite the south door is modern, with an octagonal basin and shaft." The present baptismal font in this church consists of an octagonal basin with plain vertical sides and moulded underbowl chamfer, raised on an octagonal pedestal and a moulded lower base. [NB: we have no information on the earlier font of the original church here].
