Font Notes:
The Thoroton Society (1909) reports "a large Norman tub font" in this church. In Cox (1912): "Circular tub font Norm[an] 26 in. high, 34 in. in diameter. Blocked-up N. doorway ; supposed holy-water stoup built into it, but in reality an old domestic mortar". Guilford (1927) lists a "very large" baptismal font of the Norman period in this church. The Nottinghamshire Parish Church Database [http://www.oldnotts.co.uk/data/churchdatabase/stmatthew.htm] [accessed 25 March 2009] confirms the survival of a Norman font in this church.
