Whellan (1849) notes: "the font is of Caen stone, octagonal in form, and exceedingly rich." The Victoria County History (Northampton, vol. 3, 1930) notes: " The church [...] was in the gift of the lord of Benefield in 1225 [...] With the exception of the chancel, which is of 14th-century date, the whole of the church was rebuilt in 1847 [...] the font and pulpit, are modern." [NB: both references are likely to the replacement font of the mid-19th century renovation -- we have no information on the font of the original church here].
