Noted in Pevsner (1952): "Font. Octagonal, of the usual Perp[endicular] type, but with leaf decoration in the eight panels which looks C17 rather than C15." Described and illustrated in the Parish web site [http://www.westalvingtonpc.co.uk/9.html] [accessed 17 March 2009]: "The late medieval 15th Century octagonal font has eight panels, decorated with leaves, surrounding the lead-lined bowl. Four of these were possibly turned to the wall when the font was originally under the tower. The supporting column and base are recent additions. The lid of iron-studded oak is probably 19th Century."
