There is an entry for Tintinhull [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/ST4919/tintinhull/] [accessed 13 February 2018], but it mentions neither cleric nor church in it. The Western Antiquary (issue of November 1886, vol. VI, no. 5) has: "The font is of the 15th century". The font consists of an octagonal basin with vertical sides decorated with two bands of quatrefoil motifs with inscribed rosettes; the upper band has smaller motifs, three per side; the lower band has larger motifs, two per side; ribbed underbowl chamfer; raised on a plain octagonal stem and a moulded lower base, also octagonal. There is no mention of the font in the VCH entry for this village (Somerset, vol. 3, 1974), but an early church is note: "There was a church at Tintinhull by c. 1102 when it was granted by William, count of Mortain, as part of Montacute priory's foundation estate." Not mentioned in Pevsner (1958). The entry for this church in Historic England [IoE Number: 426090] reports: "C15 octagonal font with panelled bowl and underbowl, plain shaft; C18". [NB: we have no information about the earlier font(s) of this church]
