There is an entry for [Long]stock [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/SU3537/longstock/] [accessed 10 September 2018] but it mentions neither cleric nor church in it. The Victoria County History (Hampshire, vol. 4, 1911) notes: "In the vestry are some fragments which are said to have come from the old church, the trefoiled drain of a piscina, part of the circular stem of a font, and a stone mortar." Noted in Southern Life [http://www.southernlife.org.uk/longstockchurch.htm] [accessed 17 January 2009]: "Old Holy Water stoup in vestry". [NB: is this the 'mortar' referred to in the VCH?] [cf. Index entries for Longstock Nos. 1 and 2 for two other items listed in this church]
