The 'Church notes...' (1887), in the context of some "notes [that] were taken between 1835 and 1840", reports "a small chapel [...] probably of Perpendicular date; but so mutilated as to present no feature of interest. The font is of large size, octagonal, and probably of the date of the building."
The Wiltshire Community History [http://www.wiltshire.gov.uk/community/getcom.php?id=29] [accessed 27 December 2008] informs: "St John the Baptist Church was built in 1878-81 by William Butterfield" [NB: we have no information on the whereabouts of the old font].
