The Victoria County History (Wiltshire, vol. 8, 1965) does not mention a font but notes "A church at East Coulston is first mentioned in 1214, [...] but the doorway on the north side of the nave is probably of the late 12th century [...] and the heavily-restored chancel arch was probably of the same period", as well as "a blocked doorway with exterior stoup in the north wall of the chancel". The font consists of a round basin the sides of which are decorated with a shallow arcade of round arches ending in a moulding at the centre ring position; there is repaired damage ro one of the sides of the upper rim, probably where the fastening of the old cover was anchored; raised on a plain cylindrical pedestal and a circular moulded lower base. The wooden cover consists of four vertical ribs joined at the know finial; modern.
