No entry for this Rolleston found in the Domesday survey. The Victoria County History (Wiltshire, vol. 11, 1980) notes: "A church at Rollestone, mentioned in 1291, [...] was apparently built in the earlier 13th century. [...] The church of St. Andrew, whose dedication cannot be traced before the mid 19th century, [...] was built in the earlier 13th century and the small nave may be of the same date. The font is also early-13th-century." The Wiltshire Community History pages [http://www.wiltshire.gov.uk/community/getchurch.php?id=744] [accessed 23 December 2008] report and illustrate an early-13th century font in this church. The baptismal font consists of a cylindrical basin decorated with a double moulding around the lower side, the upper rim appears to have been trimmed and chamfered at a later date; inverted conical underbowl with roll moulding at the crentre ring; short cylindrical stem raised on a round-to-square moulded lower base. The wooden cover consists of a flat and round platform on which are eight vertical scroll ribs around a centre pivot in the Jacobean style; ball finial.
