The Victoria County History (Wiltshire, vol. 13, 1987) notes: "There was a church at Tollard Royal in 1291. [...] The small size of the nave and chancel suggest that they may have been of earlier origin than their earliest surviving features, [...] all of which date from the late 13th century or the early 14th." There is no mention of a font in the VCH entry for this parish. The baptismal font consists of an octagonal basin with vertical sides and underbowl chamfer, raised on an octagonal stem, an octagonal-to-square lower base and a rectangular plinth; all plain. The wooden cover, with metal decoration and ring handle, is octagonal and falt, and appears modern.
