Directions to Site: Located off the A417, 5 km SE of Gloucester, but now an outer SE suburb of it
Ecclesiastic Region: Diocese of Gloucester
Historical Region: Hundred of Dudstone [in Domesday]
Additional Comments: disappeared font? (the one from the likely church here in Domesday-time?)
Font Notes:
There is an entry for Brockworth [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/SO8916/brockworth/] [accessed 3 July 2025]; it reports a priest, but not a church, in it. The font is noted in Verey & Brooks (1999-2002): "Font. Norman, with plain circular bowl with moulded rim and base." The font is raised on a polygonal plinth. The ill-matched wooden cover consists of a flat octagonal platform with four raised open-work arches with external buttresses; an odd shaped object, perhaps composite?
