Church Notes: 9thC(?) pre-Romanesque church attributed to Tioda, during Alfonso II's reign; first documented 905 AD; damaged 1936-1939; restored 1940s
The church is pre-Romanesque, said to date as early as the 9th century. The present baptismal vessel inside is modern; the shape is somewhat related to the basic medieval fonts of Burgos and Palencia, round and adorned with thick ribs all around; raised directly on a moulded quadrangular lower base. [NB: we have no information on the earlier font(s) of this church]
