Verey & Brooks (1999-2002) note a "Gilbertine Prioty founded in 1350" and add that "The priory apprpriated the adjoining, slightly earlier, parish church. Of this only the churchyard survives" [NB: we have no information on the original font of that church]. The present parish church of Poulton, St. Micael and All Angels, was built in the 1870s by Butterfield in late 13th-century style, according to the same source, and has "simple font" [not listed in this Index on account of its late date].
