The present font is noted in Verey & Brooks (1999-2002): "Font. Thin, of octagonal chalice shape; possibly c. 1700" [perhaps from the date of the re-building of the church, ca. 1770-1775]. This same source, however, describes the Church Farm just west of the church and, among the objects therein, "In the garden, the bowl of a plain octagonal font, and the base of a pier, probably C13, with four attached shafts." BSI has now [December 2008] received both confirmation and photographic evidence of the font in the Church Farm: the baptismal font is still there; it consists of a large octagonal basin with both ends chamfered; one of the vertical sides of the basin has a foliated cross inscribed in a quatrefoiled panel, but the other sides appear plain; the base is a cluster of four thick engaged shafts with moulded capitals and bases; the font appears to have some lichens on its surface but is otherwise in good shape. It does not look 13th-century Early English but, rather, a Victorian version of the old design. There is an octagonal pyramidal font cover that fits the font.
