There are two entries for [North] Cerney [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/SP0107/north-cerney/] [accessed 29 January 2019] neither of which mentions a cleric or church in it. The entry for this parish in the Victoria County History (Gloucester, vol. 7, 1981) notes: "The church building at North Cerney dates from the 12th century [...] The nave and the base of the tower date from the early 12th century when a new church apparently replaced a smaller building. [...] The pulpit which dates from the late 15th century, is of stone, richly carved, and the font is of similar date. [...] Both Woodmancote and Calmsden had chapels of ease to the parish church in the Middle Ages." The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: SP0185307789] notes: "Anglican parish church. Early C12; englarged c1200; mid C14; late C15; early-mid C18; restored late C19 by Waller. [...] late C15 octagonal font inside the north door." Verey & Brooks (1999-2002) note: "Font. Late C15, octagonal, with an C18 cover." The panels of the basin are deeply carved with floral motifs inscribed in cusped quatrefoils; a large floral motif on each of the sides of the underbowl chamfer; the octagonal stem has mouldings at each end, and panelled side; moulded lower base. The wooden cover is octagonal, of three very thin volumes, and has an acorn finial.
