Baptismal font consisting of a cylindrical basin plain but bor two grooves around the side, near the rim; chamfered underbowl; plain cylindrical stem; two-step circular base [may be modern], on a square plinth [modern]. Shown in a B&W photograph in the Durham County Council site [www.durham.gov.uk] [accessed 20 January 2010]: "'Caption from this album (c.1933) reads "The Baptistry, Blanchland Church, containing an ancient font and altar rails, was built in 1844 on the site of the old chantry.'" [NB: the origin of the ancient font is unknown]. Not mentioned in Pevsner (1957).
