There are two entries for Swillington [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/SE3830/swillington/] [accessed 30 October 2018]; one entry reports three priests and three churches in it; the other entry rports one church but no priests. Glynne's 20 February 1862 visit to this church (in Butler, 2007) reports: "The font has an octagonal bowl, diminishing downwards, on an octagonal stem, plain, and of doubtful character." The Parish web site [www.webart.co.uk/clients/swillingtonchurch/page2.html] [accessed 30 October 2018] informs: "The stem, base and steps of the font are relatively modern, but the bowl itself is old, and the oak cover may date back to the 17th century". The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: SE3849430469] reports: "Parish church.Late C14 or early C15,with tower rebuilt 1884(Pevsner)" but mentions no font in it.
