There is an entry for this Mickleton [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/SP1643/mickleton/] [accessed 24 May 2016], but it mwntions neither cleric nor church in it. Verey & Brooks (1999-2002) write: "Font. 1661, but modelled on Perp[endicular] fonts such as the one at Buckland". Baptismal font dated 1661 consisting of an octagonal basin with deeply-carved panels between two thick mouldings, each panel containing two quatrefoils with inscribed floral motifs; the underbowl chamfer has a large quatrefoil with inscribed floral motif on each side; the octagonal pedestal base has deeply-carved tracery windows on each panel. and has mouldings at top and bottom. The wooden font cover consists of a flat octagonal platform with four openwork ribs; modern, dated to the 1990s.
