Eastwood (1862) informs: "the lords at Wadsley had a chapel within their manor at least as early as 1481; this was probably attached to their hall or principal residence […] When this building was taken down in May, 1813, the workmen found a font and cross of stone". No further information on this font has been found, therefore we assume it disappeared some time thereafter]
