There is an entry for Askham Richard [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://domesdaymap.co.uk/place/SE5348/askham-richard/] [accessed 27 July 2014] , but it mentions neither church nor cleric in it. A font here is noted in Glynne's visit of 31 January 1871 (in Butler, 2007): "The font has an octagonal bowl enclosed in woodwork." St. Mary's is noted in the CRSBI [http://crsbi.cch.kcl.ac.uk/search/county/site/ed-yw-askri.html] [accessed 27 July 2014] as being a 12th-century building before its 19th-century renovation, but we have no information on the original font of that church -- the present font appears modern]
