There is no separate entry for Chaceley in the Domesday survey. Miller (1890) reports that "Chalesly [...] was a chapelry of Longdon" but mentions no font in its church. The Victoria County History (Worcestershire, vol. 4, 1924) notes: "The chapel of Chaceley was, like that of Castlemorton, annexed to the church of Longdon. [...] In 1333 provision was made for a priest to serve the chapel of Chaceley. [...] The chancel arch is of 12th-century date and is all that remains of a church of that period which consisted of an aisleless nave and probably a small square-ended chancel. This building apparently remained unaltered till the early part of the 14th century, when the south wall of the nave was taken down and the aisle added. [...] The font is octagonal, approaching to tub-shape form, and stands on two original circular steps. The upper part forming the basin has a moulding at mid-height and a chamfer on the lower edge and is 2 ft. 5 in. in diameter. The font may be of late 13th or early 14th-century date." English Heritage [Listing NGR: SO8551130670] (1955) reports a "C13 or early C14 octagonal font formed from single stone block on circular base towards west end of south aisle" in this church. Noted in Verey & Brooks (1999-2002): "Font. Probably early C14, with bowl and tapering stem cut from one block of stone; round base. Monolithic font with an octagonal basin in two voumes and a base of the same shape, all tapering from the top down; raised on a circular two-step plinth. The wooden cover is octagonal and flat, with metal decorations and handle; modern.
