Font Notes:
There are two entries for this Dodington [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/ST7579/dodington/] [accessed 6 March 2018], neither of which mentions cleric or church in it. A font in this church is described in Bond (1908) as "a wooden Renaissance chalice of fine and unusual design" that, unfortunately, "has lately been sold for £5". The present font is noted in Verey & Brooks (1999-2002): "Font. A replacement of 1878, in a central position under the dome." [NB: we have no information on the font of the medieval church rebuilt in 1800-1805, according to the same source]. The entry for this church in Gloucestershire Places of Worship [http://churchdb.gukutils.org.uk/GLS174.php] [accessed 6 March 2018] notes: "A stone font was installed in 1878". The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: ST7521279883] reports: "Complete rebuilding of mediaeval church 1796-1816 [...] Later C19 bowl font on 4 slender Corinthian columns on octagonal marble plinth in centre of nave."
