No individual entry found for Colesbourne in the Domesday survey. The entry for this parish in the Victoria County History (Gloucester, vol. 7, 1981) notes: "A church had evidently been built at Colesbourne by 1095 when Walter of Gloucester granted two-thirds of the tithes, which were collected in two courts, to the church of St. Owen, Gloucester [...] apparently been dedicated to St. Samson by c. 1140 [...] The font and stone pulpit date from the 15th century." The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: SP0040513412] notes: "Parish church. C12 with C15 tower and chancel; largely rebuilt 1851-53 [...] Octagonal stone C15 font in nave, on octagonal bracketed pedestal with shield decoration; one quartrefoil panel to each face; wooden cover." Verey & Brooks (1999-2002) note: "Font. C15, octagonal, with quatrefoils, and blank shields on the chamfer."
