There is an entry for this Ashley [variant seplling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/ST9394/ashley/] [accessed 10 September 2018] but it mentions neither cleric nor church in it. The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: ST9317294712] notes the Norman foundations of the church but does not mention a font in it. Verey & Brooks (1999-2002) write: "Font. Circular, with mouldings of C14 type, on a C19 base and plinth."
