Church Notes: said to be one of seven churches built by Helmold von Plesse ca. 1178; re-built early 14thC; much damaged in Thirty Years' War; renovated 1958-1862
Illustrated in Schöfbeck & Heussner (2008). Baptismal font made of granite and consisting of a roughly hemispherical basin raised on a plain pedestal base; the sides of the basin are decorated with broad but shallow ribs all around resembling an arcade; at 90-degree angles on the basin sides are four large protruding human heads, at least two of which are of bearded males wearing headdress of some sort; there is damage to the upper rim of the basin. [NB: see BSI entry for Dobin an See for a font known as "Döpelstein" recovered from the Döpe around 1775].
