The Victoria County History (Wiltshire, vol. 10, 1975) notes: "There was a church at Little Cheverell by 1291 [...] The church was valued at £8 in 1291 [...] The church of St. Peter, so called since at least 1850 but called St. Nicholas's in 1332 [...] and 1534, [...]. The old church [...] was largely of the 14th century, [...] The church was rebuilt in 1850 [...] The registers date from 1653 and are complete." There is no mention of a font in the VCH entry. Noted in Pevsner & Cherry (1975): "Font. Octagonal, Perp[endicular], with pointed quatrefoils."
