There is a 1807 watercolour of this font by John Buckler (1770-1851). The font is noted in Pevsner & Cherry (1975): "Font. Octagonal, Perp[endicular], with key and sword, a rosette, a pointed quatrefoil, a shield, etc." The Victoria County History (Wiltshire, vol. 11, 1980) notes: "There was probably a church on the estate of the cathedral monks of Winchester at Enford in 1086. It was possibly served by the priest [...] It was perhaps into the nave walls of that building that the arches of the present four-bay arcades were cut in the mid 12th century. [...] The thorough restoration and refitting of the church undertaken by C. E. Ponting in 1893"; there is no mention of a font in the VCH entry for this parish. The baptismal font consists of an octagonal basin of vertical sides decorated with a variety of motifs and synbols: an eight-petal rosette inscribed in a hexagon and a cricle, a saltire cross inscribed in a pointed quatrefoil, Christ's monogram "ihc" with a crossed 'h', a panel with two trefoiled windows above a pair of square windows, a key and a sword crossed (symbol of St. Peter and St. Paul?), a shield charged with unidentified arms, a pointed quatrefoil [the eighth panel not visible in the sources at hand]; the octagonal pedestal base has roll mouldings at both ends; the octagonal lower base is moulded; on a modern octagonal plinth with kneeling extension. The 17th-century (?) oak cover consists of an octagonal platform with eight scroll ribs shaped as fabulous serpents around a centre turned pivot; acorn finial; restored. The font is located at the west end of the nave, beneth the tower.
