Font Notes:
Duncan and Mandy Ball [http://www.oodwooc.co.uk/ph_cp_in.htm] [accessed 7 September 2008] illustrate an "old font, found in the churchyard", and later moved into the church; the object is shown at the time of the photograph [May 2000] laying on its side inside the church; it is round and still retains its old lead lining showing the centre drain at the bottom; there are some deep cuts around the rim, but it is difficult to discern whether these are purposeful carving or the result of vandalism and other damage; the general appearance is that of a font of the Norman period [there is mention of both a Saxon and a Norman church on this site in the literature]. There is no mention of this font in Pevsner & Cherry (1975) or in the Victoria County History (Wiltshire, vol. 9, 1970), although the latter points out that most of the fabric of the church prior to the 19th-century restoration was late-15th century.
