Allen (1839?) notes that "the earliest mention of this church is, that it was rebuilt by Richard the Rathing, sheriff in 1326 […] The present church was built by sir Christopher Wren in 1683 […] The font is placed against the second plinth from the west, in the north aisle; it is a handsome octangular basin of statuary marble sustained on a pillar of the same; the cover is plain". There is no mention of a font in Blatch (1995), nor do we have any information on the font(s) from the earlier times of this church.
