Allen (1839?) writes: "This church […] is a rectory, founded in or before the year 1308 […] it was rebuilt in the year 1509 […] suffered much in the great fire of London […] rebuilt Anno Domini 1697 […] The font is situated in a pew in the centre aisle, near the entrance, it is an oval basin of white marble, sustained on a column" [NB: the font notes is most likely from the late-17th century re-building -- we have no information on the earlier font(s) of this church]
