Illustrated in Eyton (1859) and in Anderson (1864) with an engraving from a drawing by J. Roberts. Octagonal tub-shaped baptismal font of the Norman period; the tall basin sides appear slightly concave; it is raised on a squat base of the same shape. The Salopian Shreds and Patches (issue for January 7, 1880 (p. 3)) reports the re-opening and re-consecration of this church and the relocation of the font, "which is of a very early type […] in the space on the ground floor".
