Baker-Jones (1970) writes: ''The fonts at Cynwyl Gaeo, Marros, Llandawke, Eglwys Cymyn, St. Clears and Llangynnor have been singled out for their rud e
workmanship and their style presumes considerable antiquity . Their general square shape and low cylindrical pillars approximate them to the style of Norman fonts, and they may perhaps represent the local Welsh craftsman's attempts to follow the fashion brought by the invader.''
