There is an entry for Crondall [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/SU7948/crondall/] [accessed 30 July 2018]; it mentions a church in it. The second, and later, baptismal font at Crondall All Saints' is a rare combination of marble, for the basin, and wood, for the base; the white marble basin is octagonal with a rounded underbowl, decorated with a moulded rim and a further moulding around the sides; the wooden base splays from round at the top to square on the rest. The font is now located in a recess of the nave wall, and is accompanied by a notice, probably taken from the parish records. The note reads: ''Paid for the marble font stone ₤ 1, 2s 0d / [p]aid for a pillar to bear the font 9s 0d / [p]aid for a little dish to rid the font 1s 0d / Parson Humphrey Weaver 1648''.
