Whellan (1859) reports ''an ancient font, now disused'' in the chapelyard at Bransdale. The St. Nicholas Centre entry page for this church notes: "'The ancient Norman font may be seen in the churchyard'', but the photographs show a plain dylindrical old (Norman?) font now inside the church, on the south side of the nave. The Parish web site [http://www.helmsleydeanery.org/BransdaleDescription.html] [accessed 12 July 2008] notifies that 'the ancient font'' can still be found in the churchyard. There is no mention of a font in the VCH (York North Riding, vol. 1, 1914) or in Pevsner (1966) [NB: it is quite possible that the above text descriptions date from an earlier source and that the font was (recently?) moved inside the church]. The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: SE6204098442] mentions the "Church. c1800; barrel-vaulted roof of 1886" in which there is a "Tub font on cylindrical pedestal", without further specifications.
