There are three entries for Worcester [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://domesdaymap.co.uk/place/SO8454/worcester/] [accessed 30 October 2014], neither of which mention cleric or church in it. Noake (1848) reports attending the consecration of the renovated church: "The style and appearance of the church have been greatly improved, and it is now one of the most ecclesiastical structures in Worcester, having a nave, chancel, and transepts; an elegant stone font has been erected in the chancel, from a design by the architect, H. Eginton, Esq." [NB: possible discrepancy: Noake writes ca. 1850 about St Paul's in the Blockhouse church and font, in Worcester -- is there a second church dedicated to St Paul? -- cf. infra] An illustration of this font, captioned: "The Font in its original position at the west end of St Paul's Church, before 1988" appears in the Worcester City Museum's web site [www.worcestercitymuseums.org.uk/content/oldpics/friar/70025p.htm] [accessed 23 June 2008]. The font is octagonal, with decorated side panels, raised on a clustered columns base. Probably from the date of the church itself, 1885. [NB: the confusion may stem from the two churches dedicated to St. Paul in Worcester: one is the Roman Catholic Cathedral]
