The Victoria County History (Northampton, vol. 4, 1937) notes: "The greater part of the church as it now exists belongs to the 13th century, but it has developed from a late-12th-century building […] in the 15th century the tower was heightened by the addition of a new bell-chamber stage, the clerestory erected, and new windows inserted in the aisle. In the 18th century the chancel and porch were remodelled in their present form […] The pulpit and font are modern, the latter of Caen stone in the Gothic style". Pevsner & Cherry (1973) mention a font: "Disused, C18; of baluster type", but it appears to be different from the one reported in the VCH above. [NB: we have no information on the earlier font(s) of this church].
