There is an entry for this Preston in the Domesday survey [http://domesdaymap.co.uk/place/SP2049/preston-on-stour/] [accessed 19 July 2014], but it mentions neither church nor cleric in it. The Victoria County History (Gloucester, vol. 8, 1968) notes that "In 1272, the date of the earliest known reference to the church, the advowson belonged to Deerhurst Priory, although then, as at many later times, it was in the hands of the Crown. [...] The small cup-shaped font was made in the 18th century". [NB: we have no information on the earlier font(s) of this church].
