A Victorian baptismal font consisting of an octagonal basin designed in 14th-century style with a plethora of tracery and crocketing, where the pointed arches around the lower side overhang the pedestal [cf. the Decorated fonts at Hitchin and Northampton, or the Perpendicular one at Yaxham, for instance]; unlike the original fonts, however, the octagonal pedestal is quite slender here, and ends in a moulded lower base with quatrefoils on the sides; octagonal plinth. Marble cover of the same date, 1843. [NB: though the font is of late for inclusion in this Index, it is of note as it brings back a 14th-century font design into a period of Gothic revival]
