Baptismal font probably from the late 17th or early 18th century, consisting of a roughly hemispherical basin raised on a round pedestal base decorated with roll mouldings, identified in PORTUGAL VIRTUAL [http://www.portugalvirtual.pt/_tourism/algarve/silves/index.html] [accessed 18 April 2008] as having been made from local marble [NB: there may have been an earlier font from the original 16th-century Manueline church].
