Font Notes:
There is an entry for Hinton [-on-the-Green] [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/SP0240/hinton-on-the-green/] [accessed 6 February 2019] but it mentions neither cleric nor church in it. The entry for this parish in the Victoria County History (Gloucester, vol. 8, 1968) notes: "The north and south doorways, which probably date from the late 11th century, are the earliest substantial part of the fabric [...] The church was restored and re-roofed in the 1860's [...] The 15th-century font, removed from the church before the late 19th century and for a time in the garden of the manor-house, was later moved to Bretforton Manor and returned to the church in 1911". In Pevsner (1968): "Font. Octagonal, Perp[endicular], with fleurons in quatrefoils." Ditto in Brooks & Pevsner (2007). [NB: we have no information on the font from the 11th-century church here].
